Meridian Energies

To Whom it May Concern:

I recently entered into a discussion regarding whether bladed weapons created at the Angel Sword forge in Driftwood, Texas, might have metaphysical properties. I proposed a test of the effect of the presence of such a blade on acupuncture meridian energies as a straightforward way to measure one aspect of metaphysical properties. The test described hereafter was performed on March 19, 2004 in Dallas.

The test subject, Mr. James Slagle, presented at my office at approximately 10:30 am to prepare for testing.

All meridian measurements were performed using the Accu-O-Matic SP Series electrotherapy/diagnostic machine.

1. A baseline test of the energy level of each of the 12 main bilateral meridians was performed at 10:40 am, with the test subject lying supine on a massage table.

2. Meridian energy was then tested at 10:47 am with a tanto blade made in Pakistan lying along the midline of the test subject, from Ren 2 (at the superior border of the pubic symphysis) to approximately Ren 19 (on the midline of the sternum at the level of the 2^nd intercostals space).

3. Meridian energy was then tested at 10:55 am with an Angel Sword Avatar tanto blade lying along the midline of the test subject, from Ren 2 (at the superior border of the pubic symphysis) to approximately Ren 20 (on the midline of the sternum at the level of the 1st intercostal space).

4. Meridian energy was tested at 11:00 am with no blade in position.

5. Test #3 was repeated with the Angel Sword blade in position for 5 minutes before testing.

Using the Accu-O-Matic, the normal energy measurement for an acupuncture meridian should fall in the range of 90 to 110, with 100 being optimal.

The results of each of the tests are presented in the table TEST DATA.

CONCLUSIONS AND CAVEATS

The baseline test shows a randomly unbalanced pattern. The “Pakistan” blade appears to have little effect. The Angel Sword Avatar blade causes most meridian measurements to fall within the normal range. The “no blade” measurements indicate that the effect is temporary. The second Avatar test indicates the effect is repeatable.

It would be irresponsible to assert that this test approaches scientific method standards or that the assertions above would withstand serious scrutiny. Both the tester and the test subject were aware of the blade being tested, etc. It does present enough intriguing evidence of an energetic effect to suggest that further and more formal and rigorous testing might be a worthwhile undertaking.
